Vastly different from the juniper-heavy gins of the past, No. 209 opens with a beautifully aromatic nose of predominately citrus and floral notes with a hint of spiciness. First across the palate are the citrus high notes, with lemon followed by a hint of orange. As the spirit warms in the mouth, delicate floral notes are liberated from the bergamot and coriander. Mid-palate, there is a pepper-like warmth from the emerging cardamom and juniper. As the cardamom continues to bloom across the palate mint-like components further emerge. The cassia and other warm spice notes become prominent on the finish. The cassia in particular lingers, encouraging another sip.
In the 19th Century, the arrival of English ships in Honolulu Harbor led to a strong Victorian influence. Named after a sailor’s word for “drink”, “Fid” Street, now known as lower Nu’uanu Avenue in Honolulu, became the place where the thirsty and sea-weary reveled. Bridging the gap between old English and American craft gin styles, Fid Street Gin is the first gin ever created on Maui and only the second in Hawai'i since prohibition.
Crafted from 12 Botanicals locally sourced in Hawaii, FID St Gin pays homage to Hawaii's history by marrying the typical components of a London Dry Gin with unique Hawaiian ingredients - bridging the gap between traditional English and American Craft Gin styles. Distilled in small batches, Fid St. Gin is juniper-forward and exhibits a very clean and aromatic fresh-cut floral and citrus bouquet with a hint of forest air. Made at our Distillery in Maui, Fid St features Maui Gold Pineapple essence, from fresh pineapples grown on our very own Maui Gold Pineapple farm.
